Project: Extensions and Alterations, Hampton Park Road
Duration: 8 months
Client: Private Client
Architect: Axys Design, Tim Ford
Structural Engineer: Martin Peters Associates
Over-looking the River Wye, this property is set in an idyllic location. This project was aimed to make the most of the views by constructing an open-feel single storey sun room to the rear, utilising large glazed areas allowing the occupants to enjoy their surroundings. However, the location presented a problem with severe changes in ground levels making the foundation design highly complicated
and to hinder further the access to the site was very limited.
In addition to the sun room, the project involved the construction of a two storey extension to the side of the property to provide a new garage at ground floor level and a bedroom with en-suite to the first floor.
On top of all of this, there was also major internal alterations to the existing house including a new kitchen and utility area and a new ground floor WC and the associated works with the electrical installation, plumbing installation and decorations.
The materials used during the construction combined traditional elements such as bricks, blocks and tiles with more recent items like the aluminium double-glazed bi-folding doors to give a crisp, clean lines throughout to provide the project with a modern feel.
